The Official Ceremony launches the 2003 Caribana Festival. Patrons can expect to meet with Provincial and City Officials, CARIBANA representatives and Sponsors. Enjoy live entertainment, sample Caribbean foods, and pick up a CARIBANA souvenir or two from our Marketplace.

Children's Carnival Parade Saturday, July 19th, 2003
12:00 noon-4:00pm
Yorkgate Mall, Jane & Finch Free
Ranging from ages 4 to 16, Junior Kings and Queens from participating bands in the parade will compete for the coveted crowns and prizes. A colourful showcase of costumes and lyrical talent, this event proves that Caribana is as much for the young as it is for the old.

Children's Carnival Parade Saturday, July 26th, 2003
12:00 noon-6:00pm
Malvern Recreation Centre (Assembly area: Neilson Avenue, just South of Finch) Free
Ranging from ages 4 to 16, Junior Kings and Queens from participating bands in the parade will compete for the coveted crowns and prizes. A colourful showcase of costumes and lyrical talent, this event proves that Caribana is as much for the young as it is for the old.

Canadian Calypso Monarch Finals Saturday, July 26th, 2003
7:00 pm-11:00pm
Shangri-La Convention Centre, 50 Esna Park Drive $25 in advance / $30 at the door
Now in its 23rd year, this event is the highlight of the Calypso calendar. Through social and or political commentary, and or humour, the artists tries to capture the attention of the judges, in their bid for the title of 2003 Canadian Calypso Monarch.

Canadian Soca Monarch Competition Sunday, July 27th, 2003

Cutty's Hideaway - 538 Danforth Avenue $15 in advance / $20 at the door
Open to all Canadians, the Soca Monarch competition selects the best party songs and soca artist of the year.

A Carnival style boat cruise on Lake Ontario featuring some of Toronto’s hottest musical bands and an array of delicious Caribbean food to delight your taste buds.

Pan Alive Friday, Aug 1st
7pm -11pm
Historic Fort York - 100 Garrison Road (off Fleet Street, between Bathurst & Strachan) $10 adults; $5 Seniors / Children
Devoted entirely to the captivating rhythms of the steelpan, 10 Steel Orchestras from the Ontario Steelband Association showcase the musical and tonal qualities of the steelpan, each playing selections of choice for twenty minutes including a predetermined arrangement of a well-known piece for assessment by a panel of judges.

Caribana Fusion Saturday Aug 2nd

Presented by the Toronto Association of Promoters (TAP), enjoy a post-parade concert featuring some of the hottest local and international Soca/Calypso, Reggae, Chutney and Hip Hop/R&B artists, Steel and Brass Bands.

Arts & Cultural Festival Sunday Aug 3rd, Monday Aug 4th
noon - 8pm
Olympic Island $20 Adults; $12 Seniors; $10 Children
A Caribbean cultural feast of local and international soca, reggae, calypso and steelpan artists, as well as dance, comedy, food and crafts in a waterfront parkland setting.
